Orchestral Concert Venue &   Public Square Design

Located in north Estonia, the city of Rakvere
is rapidly becoming one of the country’s cultural centres. In 2009 the City Government held an international competition to design an orchestral concert venue within an existing historic church. The brief also required an annex building for exhibition space and cafe as well as a complete re-design of an existing public square.

The design was driven by the wider context and local landmarks to fit the modern design into the existing fabric. The solidity of the annex reflects the stone church with a glazed atrium linking the two.

Artform Architects design provides a cohesive approach for both public square and concert venue so the two elements work together in creating a new identity for thispart of the city.
