Mixed Use Gateway Project
  for Landmark City Centre   Development

Organised as an open international competition by United Colours of Benetton, the brief was to design a landmark building in the centre of Tehran for a new retail store with offices and apartments above. The corner site is located on a major route through the capital and provides an opportunity for the development to link one district to another.

The concept takes inspiration from traditional Iranian architecture by using a central courtyard as an oasis from the bustling city. The cladding design provides a modern interpretation of decorative ceramic tiles seen in the city’s market bazaars. A dedicated pedestrian route runs through the centre of the site creating a shaded open air retail street with office bridge links above.
